Planting Fields Arboretum Engagement | Danielle & Tommy

We had so much fun at Danielle and Tommy’s Planting Fields Arboretum Engagement Session.

Danielle and Tommy’s Planting Fields Arboretum Engagement Session was incredible in so many ways.  Danielle reached out to me as soon as she got engaged to Tommy.  She knew right away that they wanted me to shoot their wedding.  Their wedding package included an engagement shoot and we began scheduling a time and location.  I recommended Planting Fields Arboretum State Park in Oyster Bay, NY because it was spring and makes for an incredible location to shoot.

I encouraged them to wait for a nice spring day because I wanted the photos to be fun and bright.  After rescheduling a few times for inclement weather, we finally settled on an awesome day and met at the park.  Just like all clients before their engagement or wedding photos, Danielle and Tommy started off a bit timid.  As we walked around they began to loosen up.  It didn’t take long until they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.  They smiled and laughed, hugged and kissed.  When couples are interacting like they were I try to do minimal directing and capture real emotion between them.  A mentor once told me that although good locations and light are important, you can capture emotion anywhere and still get amazing images.  I always try to remember that.

The park was busy, so we walked and found some corners that weren’t as crowded.  We had good sunlight the whole time of our session. Danielle and Tommy’s wedding is September 2020 and I can’t wait to photograph them all done in their wedding attire. They were both very happy with the images and I am grateful to be able to capture these moments.
