Allie’s Maternity Photography session in Island Park was amazing! How exciting for Allie and Sean and myself as well. Sean own’s a bar and restaurant in Puerto Rico called The Beach House, Rincon that I worked at for a few years. Now I get to shoot endless photos of the baby Greyson and make every milestone special. I also had the opportunity to capture some photos of the mother to be and her baby bump. Sometimes pregnant woman can be skeptical about getting in front of the camera while carrying their child. However, there is something very raw and naturally beautiful about the pregnant female body. Luckily also, my girlfriend is close friends with Allie and agreed to come along to help with the shoot. Having an assistant for photography sessions can be very helpful, especially if they can make the client a bit more comfortable.
We used all natural window light during this maternity photography session and started out in front of plain white studio paper. Allie wore a black dress which made for some great contrast before switching the paper out for a dark grey. Allie changed her outfit to a white flowy dress that showed a bit of her belly. After shooting a bunch of vertical images in front of the studio, I suggested we do some in her bedroom.
The bedroom is all white and has three different windows, which as you can imagine made for some beautiful light and airy images. I think at this point Allie was a bit more relaxed and loosened up a bit. It was great for the last images of our session. We also used some natural window light on the couch for some more dramatic shots as well. Sometimes it’s nice to give the client a variety in the gallery, especially with maternity photography.
Can’t wait to shoot some more family portraits with baby Greyson. Check out some of the images below in our maternity photography session from Island Park, New York.
