It was a long trip for the guests who travelled to Meath, Ireland for Matt and Dakota’s destination wedding.
Matt has deep roots from Ireland. When he and Dakota decided to get married they knew they wanted to have a destination wedding somewhere near Dublin. I have personally known Matt since we were little kids. He grew up just down the street from me and we’ve been friends fro as long as I can remember. I was planning on being a guest and taking the trip over to Ireland for the destination wedding but they asked me about eight months prior if I would be interested in photographing it. I was just getting started in wedding photography and jumped at the opportunity. All of my weddings so far had been in New York where I am based out of. But traveling to Ireland? That sounded like a dream.
The destination wedding was held about thirty minutes from Dublin, Ireland in a town called Meath. The venue was Ballymagarvey Village and when I arrived I couldn’t believe my eyes. The castle had multiple areas and was covered in beautiful green trees, bushes and vines. The wedding began with some getting ready shots of the bride and groom. We were so lucky to have good weather in August. Ireland can tend to be rainy during August.
After an emotional first look, we took some time for portraits with the bride and groom around the grounds at Ballymagarvey Village. Matty and Dakota felt very relaxed and natural with me simply because we have known each other for a while. After a while we took some time to get ready for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.
The night felt like it never ended. The guests danced and drank into the night surrounded by their loved ones. The night ended with a firework show that was an amazing cap to this fairytale destination wedding.
